The event's top earners were headliners Lyoto Machida at $200,000, and Mauricio "Shogun" Rua took in $155,000. Machida retained his UFC light-heavyweight title by earning a much talked about controversial split decision win over Rua.
Others top earners from the event included Joe Stevenson ($94,000), surging heavyweight contender Cain Velasquez ($70,000), and Chael Sonnen ($54,000).
Pat Barry also made off with a good chunk of change as well, as he pocketed a total of $136,000. He brought in $14,000 for his salary and an additional $120,000 in fight night awards. Barry and his opponent, Antoni Hardonk, each took home $60,000, as they were awarded "Fight of the Night" for their back and forth heavyweight bout. Barry pocketed another $60,000, as he was awarded "Knockout of the Night" for his second round-win over Hardonk.
Preliminary card fighter Stefan Struve was the other fighter to earn a bonus as he took home "Submission of the Night" and a extra $60,000 for his first-round submission win over Chase Gormley.
Also released today by the CSAC, UFC 104 officially drew 14,892 spectators for a gate of $1.9 million. UFC president Dana White announced at the UFC 104 post-fight press conference that the event brought in 16,000 fans, which is down from the official attendance figure. However, White's announced $1.9 million gate figure was right on target.
Thats a freaking nice bonus for barry.
If you read the other thread about barry you would know he was totally broke before the fight and have been living on rise and ketchup for days before 104.
So good job barry!
